From the past to the present
I started building log shells as a contractor in 1990. During the next ten years, we kept trying different construction styles. To achieve what I wanted to produce, I had to get into design. Also, to finish the houses, we needed the ability to manufacture windows and furniture.
After 10 years of work, we decided to see how inexpensively we could produce houses without compromising workmanship. We went to China to open a plant. At the same time, we got into CNC production. We were producing the most inexpensive buildings and the most high-tech buildings at the same time. I felt that I had gone through all the experiences I could have in 10 years.
In 2002, I had the opportunity to decide how to continue. I decided to stay in CNC production because I could personally control product quality much more directly than with hand cut production. We split the team at this time, and I created my company, Daizen Joinery, for this work. After all the hard work, I realized very clearly that I like providing living space as a professional. While I could do this in other ways, I decided to take part in providing timber frames.
From 1990 until now, I have established a very talented woodworking team. Most of my team members have gone their own ways to continue their professions. We get together for special projects when our skills are needed together. For now, I concentrate on producing the best frames I can as project manager with my great CNC machine.
Working with log builders
Because of our experience, we can integrate timber roofs onto log homes very smoothly. Building log roofs is sometimes very simple. If clients demand stronger roofs, please call us. Or if you start getting timber frame contracts, we can supply the frames.
The Daizen Joinery approach
Our main focus is to make sure that our clients receive products that they are pleased with. If we had to sacrifice some quality to handle more projects, we would refuse to undertake more projects. I believe that if we take each step right, our undertaking will become easier and better.
